I never saw one in a grass field like J said,i spotted this one a few weeks ago http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/14685159

This was more along the edge of the woodland, more open, and by a stump. ;)

Looks like Ganoderma sp., though it is unnatural to see that in the middle of woodlands, as they usually grow on stumps or trees.
