Field Notes

Description:

Branched plant, small buds along stem. I spotted a few of these and pulled one of the ground to see what it was. At first I thought it was a plant that was done blooming but I think this is what this plant actually looks like. I have never seen anything like it, nor had a horticulturist friend.

Habitat:

leaf litter, temperate forest

Notes:

Spotted a bunch of these growing near each other in Short Hills provincial park.
