Not really sure what these could be--caseworm cocoons? On Beebalm (Monarda sp.).

Yep not really sloppy or variegated enough for a bird cloaca... But I think it has fallen some distance J - Could small mammals have been above somewhere maybe in a tree ?
Thanks ForestDragon! I'm pretty sure it's a type of insect feces now. It was on a beebalm leaf, which isn't too large, so I doubt it was a bird.
J, it looks a lot like feces of some creature, a bird perhaps.
Perhaps Argy! I can't imagine something eating such a strong mint!
You sure this isn't frass J? One is lying down and showing some 'bloom' on the surrounding leaf.
