There were a few more around it, but this was the prettiest one. I'
Great find, Sean. I think it might be a Clavulinopsis species. The golden spindle (Clavulinopsis fusiformis) seems to look a lot like your spotting, though they usually grow in clusters. Here is a link: http://www.mushroomexpert.com/clavulinopsis_fusiformis.html
