Description:

Cocoon 10cm diameters at its widest 30cm long attached to a gum tree in my backyard

Habitat:

Gumtree in backyard of house in a Remote town in South Australia

Notes:

Really just curious what it is

At 30cm long I doubt it is a cocoon in the usual sense. Is it hard to the touch? Might be some type of stem gall. At least you can watch over it.
