Field Notes

Description:

A piece of this was thrown out by the waves on the sea shore. Looks like seaplant with little bubbles. Some might mix it up with kind of sponge but is definitely isn't an animal this time.

Species ID Suggestions

Banded dye-murex eggs

Hexaplex trunculus

No worries, I was just as surprised as you, when I first realized that this kind of algae -stuff, was actually the eggs of several Banded dye-murex mollusks :)
These are the eggs of the Hexaplex trunculus sea gastropod, or to be exact, the eggs of many Hexaplex trunculus mollusks. http://oceana.org/sites/default/files/imagecache/_x480/euo/diaries/diario_220706_jc_6.jpg Could you also please, add this wonderful spotting at the Greek biodiversity mission? Thank you in advance http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/7964599
