looks like a tomato hornworm pupa
I'm guessing a beetle- that horn may help with identifying it.
You can put this pupa in a screened container to see what comes out of it. It will be rewarding to document it as it emerge into adulthood.
How cool! I found one that looks similar, here in Australia. I'm no expert, but they look the same to me. I'd love an ID on it too :) http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/12059747
