Wildlife Spotting

Found this tree trunk partly buried in the sand on the beach. I expect it came down the river during the landslide last year, although that might not be the case. No idea what kind of tree it is. Most of the bark has peeled off revealing these markings which I'm guessing would have been made by insects when the tree was alive
