Field Notes

Description:

I found this plant growing in the shade of the bay laurel trees in my backyard in hard soil last spring. The flowers each have five pink petals and grow in a spire shape. The leaves are very ragged-looking.

Habitat:

Shady, warm, and dry.

Notes:

I shared these pictures elsewhere and someone said they think it is a pink larkspur/delphinium. There are over three hundred varieties of the flower and they all look so different I thought I should have a second opinion. Pictures taken with iPhone 5.
