It is growing right over some lichens and even some liverworts on a maple tree. Suburban yard next to a forest
Notes:
A member of a Lichen group I am in commented that this is "possibly undescribed... the number of genera in Arthoniales has more than doubled in the last 10 years... I file them as cf Cryptothecia."
