Description:

Cotton-like covering a golf-ball-size ball found beneath dense tall trees above my cabin home. Trees are mostly oaks but dwarf cypress & other varieties nearby.

Habitat:

Dense woodlands of Upstate SC.

Great find Peggy! This is actually a gall produced by the larva of a very tiny wasp. This spotting should go in the Arthropods section. :-)
