Agaricales is the name used for (almost) all Gilled mushrooms. Taxonomically it is ranked as an order, one rank above families. So the Agaricales contain families like Agaricaceae, Mycenaceae and Tricholomataceae. Within the taxonomic unit family, you'll find a genus (plu. genera). In this case you can find genera like Agaricus, Coprinus (sensu stricto), Lepiota, Leucocoprinus, Lycoperdon, Vascellum in the Agaricaceae, for instance. Long story short, at MO they have no idea of what these mushrooms are, so they place it within the largest, but for now most accurate group.
Hmmm, not sure either Michael. Agaricales was suggested on Mushroom Observer...
Very cool bunch! They might be Gymnopus spec., but I'm not sure..
