Field Notes

Description:

Brown mushroom with viscid cap, decurrent grey gills, viscid annulus and stem below it. Some species of Gomphidius.

Habitat:

Singly on the ground.

Notes:

These mushrooms are just about the slimiest caps around. There are several other species of Gomphidius in the region, but this one has a light brown, flat cap with brown bruising.
