Field Notes

Description:

Perching on a distant tree. Sun and shadows playing tricks. Family possibly Turdidae, maybe female, Stonechat is the only one common here at this time but could be Whinchat or Wheatear, which it resembles. Most turn out to be Stonechats when you get closer but this one flew!
Bill shape and thick white eyestripe extending to forehead seem to rule out the shrikes which are also present in the area..

Habitat:

Coastal marshes
