Field Notes

Habitat:

Seen on the edge of the town of Sungai Penuh, near the Kerinci Seblat National Park, Sumatra, Indonesia.

Species ID Suggestions

Cotton Stainer Bug

Dysdercus sp.

Comments (1)

Pyrrhocoridae, most probably a Dysdercus sp. and could be Dysdercus cingulatus, which is very common, but we would need more pictures from the whole bug and preferably from the underside to be sure. http://malaysianinsects.web.fc2.com/Dysdercus-cingulatus.htm http://www.ces.csiro.au/aicn/system/c_1866.htm http://www.forestryimages.org/browse/detail.cfm?imgnum=5368176
