The bright orange on the thorax area is more consistent with a Giant Stonefly. http://bugguide.net/node/view/1066034/bgimage http://bugguide.net/node/view/106135/bgimage It looks like getting this down to a species will probably not be possible without more images of the underside and expert evaluation. It is a really cool insect!

What a beauty! Looks like a female (?) if I'm correct on the ID. Do you get Dobson flies in your area? They're even bigger! O.O
