Very cool spotting! It often happens that one or more eggs won’t hatch because they were actually infertile. The infertile eggs are for food just in case there aren’t enough aphids, etc. nearby. The newly hatched larvae will first eat their eggshells, and then the unhatched eggs, their siblings, aphids, etc.
