Field Notes

Description:

I monitored the development of this particular specimen for three days. It looked like an egg when I first spotted it, and then grew into the beauty you see in the pictures. It had disappeared when I came back a week later.

Habitat:

Found growing out of the base of a tree near the Hidden Lake Overlook at Enterprise Nature Park.

Notes:

I found this one after a heavy rain the day before. Mushrooms were popping up all over the park, but this was the only specimen I found for this species.

Nice spotting Brady. I'm not an expert on fungi, although I've posted quite a few. When I started I was informed for a positive ID, you almost always need a shot of the gills on the bottom. Hope someone can help you with your mushroom pics.
