Field Notes

Description:

Small, silver and green, fuzzy leaves with deep veins. There are tall peduncles with several clusters of dried flowers along the spike.

Habitat:

Dried grassland near coastal scrub.

I was between the S. leucophylla and the S.Apiana...Could be an interspecies hybrid, too.. http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/salvia/msg0221503021203.html
Thank you for the suggestion, Despina. The leaves of S. leucophylla are elongated and relatively smooth. I agree this one looks like Salvia with its inflorescence.
