Field Notes

Description:

Triangular, ridged growth approximately 8-10" wide growing on the side of a downed tree. Growth is gray, hard to the touch.

Habitat:

Seen on a downed tree at the edge of a wooded area.

Notes:

Growth is on what I have always thought was a birch tree; it may actually be an aspen.
