Thanks fo the ID suggestion Ca. But Tabebuia is a neotropical genus and this picture was taken in Holland at a nature reserve where they would not plant any foreign trees. If you take a good look at the branches, you'll see that they almost immediatly sprout from the bottom of the tree, Tabebuia's branches start half way up the trunc of the tree.
