Description:

Specimen has a black front with a black dotted red back (with one prominent black dot in the middle).

Habitat:

This bug was found on a Privet bush (Ligustrum) in a suburban area with a few trees, some bushes, and a lot of grass.

Hi Dwight, this cool insect is actually a type of true bug, not a beetle at all. It is a nymph and may be more difficult to identify because it is not in its adult form yet.
