I'm still researching it and I've found that Lime Hawk Moths come in different shades, but it's the only moth I can find with the lime green colour that matches the one in your photo so far...!
Thanks for researching. I'm not completely convinced, but it very well could be. I believe they are native to China but have been spotted in eastern Canada. I'm in Maine so that could be it.
Of the two suggestions I've given I'm going with Lime Hawk Moth (Mimas tiliae) I've never seen or heard of one before, but after a little searching I think this might be your moth...!
Some sort of Emperor or Hawk Moth...? I'm going to try my best to find out...!
