Wildlife Spotting

This looks like a cocoon it is white with a little bit of black on the ends. I did not touch it because I didn't want to crush it if it was a cocoon, but It looked like it was soft like silk. I found it in a butterfly garden near my classroom where there is plants and soil, I found it under a stone in the wet silty soil laying on the ground.
