I think Eric is right.. must suggest to a few others from the India and Himalayas.
I wish we could see the wing venation and antennae better. Could this really be a Tabanid? Some of the wing venation of the Bombyliids look very similar to the Tabanidae. What an incredible fly.
Actually, I think this is a Tabanidae horse fly, but one that does not feed on blood.
Yes, I agree with Argy, Family Bombyliidae. What a beauty!
