Field Notes

Description:

Relatively large moth, has a golden pattern around its wings, the central torcoise blue colour is dotted with dark patches. Wngspan: 60mm.

Habitat:

A scattered village in a remote place in Sikkim with mix of corn, large cardamom and tea farmiming place. Lots of bush and forests. Altitude about: 7,000ft.

Notes:

After a health check up camp nearby for the local public organised by local leaders we wanted to stay at this lake-side bungalow for angling and bug-spotting. I'd intructed the bungalow in-charge to keep the lights on through the night. In the morning I managed to spot these beauties!

Species ID Suggestions

Thanks bayucca for the leads. Appreciate. The photo on the first ref. (titlitrust.com) quite tallies this one!
Euryobeidia (or Obeidia sp.??) sp., similar to the common Euryobeidia languidata, but the markings are slightly different and I am sceptic if the ID of this one is really correct: http://www.titlitrust.com/Geometridae_Ennominae_3/imag015.jpg https://www.flickr.com/photos/bettaman/8126260360 http://www.jpmoth.org/Geometridae/Ennominae/Euryobeidia_languidata_languidata.html http://www.naris.go.kr/v2/naris_search/search_result_detail.jsp?inst_id=1414843
