Field Notes

Description:

Large, evergreen and segmented cacti, spreading upright form.

Size: 6-10 ft.

Habitat:

Sonoran Desert; This one was photographed in the Tonto National Forest near Apache Junction, AZ.

Notes:

I believe that this cactus is Englemann's Prickly Pear (Opuntia engelmannii). Agree?

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

This is a lovely Opuntia, but I think the sines are too closely packed to be an Englemann's. Not that I know what it is of course.
