Habitat:

Cherrywood Park in Dallas, TX, after several days of heavy rain created in large shallow pools park-wide and attracting area water fowl.

It's an immature night heron, difficult to tell species from this photo though. Looks more like black-crowned than yellow-crowned, but I can't be sure.
