Field Notes

Description:

Freshwater goby. About 3-4 inches atm.
They called it a blue cheek goby where I got it but this appears to be false.

Did you catch this or buy it?
This does not say "Goby" to me. Shape is all wrong. Gobies have a longer more cylindrical shape, with a cup shaped pectoral fin it uses to "sit" on the bottom. Mouth doesn't look very "goby-ish" either. Too small. But then I'm a terrestrial person more acquainted with birds. But then again, I've had several aquariums in my past and have seen gobies for sale in many stores. Hmmmm. Here's a link to a different kind of Goby, and you'll see the shapes I'm trying to describe: http://www.tfhmagazine.com/details/articles/the-chinese-vermilion-goby-full-article.htm
