Field Notes

Description:

2cm shell I have never seen the inhabitant of the shell

Habitat:

Sandy and weedy intertidal areas in a salt-water lagoon

Notes:

I have an image of a midden containing the discarded shells of the same species for clarity although it is an earlier spotting. They may be introduced, either accidentally by the shipping industry in past centuries, or to eat the algae and weed. That would make the discovery of middens somewhat surprising though!
