Thanks for your help Daniel.
Yea, that's one of the ones I saw when searching. I didn't see any reference to the genus in South America, but then again, there isn't much of a database for species down there.
This looks very similar http://lh3.ggpht.com/-eMjZ0WdyF1E/UMlU5m6DalI/AAAAAAAACHs/ShFyYJ25Jlw/600px-Bark_Spider_2011%252520edited%252520from%252520picmonkey_thumb%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800
Hi Daniel, this was a really tiny spider & to be honest I could see very little detail until I uploaded my photos. The web was moving so unfortunately this was the best I could manage. I will check out the bark spiders. Would you mind taking a look at this for me too - I'm really keen to get an ID http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/16684109
This spider has confounded me for the last few days. I can't seem to find a match for it. The closest match I've found is a quite variant genus of "bark spider" found in Africa genus Caerostris. Do you know/can you remember, if this spider had all eight eyes, or did it possibly have 4? It kind of looks like it might only have four. Besides that, the posturing and cephalothorax shape (short compared to most other orb weavers that I've seen) lead me to believe this might be related to the ones in Africa.
