Field Notes

Description:

Look how well it camouflages against the tree! Wolf spider of some kind (?). Fairly large, but not as huge as it looks in photos and much smaller than a full-grown Carolina Wolf Spider.

Habitat:

Woods behind house. found on a tree trunk, about four feet above ground. I didn't see any web, though I did walk right into some lines of spider silk across my path, which is the reason I spotted this spider.
