Description:
This plant was fairly large, being approximately five feet in height. It seemed to be a type of bush with rounded leaves that tapered to sharp points, and light grayish colored stems. It was observed that this bush was producing flowers, the petals of these ranging from pink to orange in color, and being papery-thin. The flower petals were slightly textured, and the veins were visible; also, they were slightly translucent. On the inside of the flower, surrounded by petals, were small white buds. The buds had blossomed from narrow red stems, some of which were seen in the flowers.
Habitat:
The bush was spotted in a thick bed of long, thin grass. The grass it was growing in was a dark green, indicating that water was available in that particular area. The bed of grass that the plant was located in was part of the front garden of a resident of Hui ʻIwa place in Kahaluʻu, Oʻahu.
