Species ID Suggestions

I have not been able to find this same mushroom again! Tricky little shroom ...
When I get home I think I will try just what you suggest. I really appreciate the information! thank you!
My first guess would be that it is a Milkcap (aka Candycap in America). Genus Lactarius. To be sure you can break the gills and see whether latex (milk) starts to bleed from them. I think this will be difficult to ID to species level without extra information. Some things you can look for are; what species of trees are nearby (hazel and a conifer?) and information about the 'milk' of the mushroom: the colour of the milk, how sparse or abundant the milk is, the taste and smell of the milk (acrid? fiery? mild?). If you do taste it remember not to swallow it just in case! Sometimes the milk will change colour with time (as with Lactarius deterrimus) or it will change colour on contact with white cloth. I hope this doesn't put you off... You probably won't need all of this info for a positive ID. Good luck
