Baoris farri looks not bad for the spots on the forewing, but the hindwing does not perfectly match. http://www.flutters.org/home/photogallery/index.php?level=picture&id=254 What about Rice Swift?? Borbo cinnara, for my eyes until now the best match! http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fichier:Borbo_cinnara_2.jpg
Here is one candidate: Pelopidas sp.. I do not have much time, Wednesday is Orthodontics day, so, please, verify yourself and focus first on Swifts. These unicolored skippers without any remarkable patterns are sometimes a nightmare. Pelopidas conjuncta? Pelopidas mathias, which I prefer after the short search. But I am not sure about the genus, just take it as a hint and wait for other suggestions/comments... http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Pelopidas_mathias http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dark_Small-branded_Swift.jpg
Definitely a Skipper and it looks like some kind of a Swift, however, I do not know much about Swifts besides the name ;-)... Keep on Hesperiidae.
Thank you Bayucca. So, Zabulon has been ruled out. I think this is Skipper (butterfly).
Sorry, no, Zabulon is a species of North and Central America and not found in India. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zabulon_Skipper
Please help! Is this Zabulon Skipper (Poanes zabulon) ?
