Field Notes

Description:

Chrysalis, cocoon, shell, etc... of a dragonfly?

Habitat:

On stalks of plants growing in (fresh water) Lake Emma near the dock or within 8-12 feet of shore

Notes:

I had never noticed these before this pat year. At first we only found one here or there but later found over half-a-dozen in one day. We never saw the insect emerging from its shell (exoskeleton?) but were told by another insect-loving photographer that he thought these were from dragonflies when they leave the water to grow into their new bodies
