It would be interesting to have a mission purely for the bush brown, documenting the seasonal differences and the associated weather patterns throughout the butterfly's range.
Following this discussion and re-examining my images, I now believe that all mine are perseus. Should I put them up now or wait?

I think Common Bushbrown nearing DSF: Mycalesis perseus - On the hind wing only the three posterior ocelli in a straight line, the rest strongly curved outwards (Wikipedia) and also using the ID key here -> http://www.flickr.com/photos/knkedlaya/4949083056/. But let's get confirmation from bayucca.
I have four different types in my bush brown folder. The chances of getting any closer with any reliability is small. All the authorities are woefully behind on their images.

thanks dave. I looked at that site before, but nothing quite matches! Probably a Plain Bush Brown, or a Dark Bush brown, I think. Hopefully someone will know...
I get quite a few of these on my daily safari. It is a bush brown, Mycalesis but I cannot get any closer than that. Here is a link to Indian mycalesis to get you started.
