Description:

Small tracks from animal living at border of a marshy area. It looked like the tracks led to holes leading under the snow. Tracks were approx 1" in width. What would make these curlicue shapes?

Habitat:

Marsh bordering on a wooded a wooded area.

Well, I suppose it is more likely to be a vole than a shrew, simply because voles are far more common than shrews. Hope you can figure out what it is!
Thanks, Gordon! It could probably be either- think I'll head back there next weekend and see if I can get a better sense of it's size. I think it's probably a vole, though.

Hmmm...yes very interesting. Perhaps this animal just loves the snow so much, it couldn't resist a few twirls. lol :)
