A new hatchling songbird of some sort Many reasons why this poor chick fell. One possibility is that a cowbird may have laid an egg in the nest of the mama songbird. Cowbird chicks are bigger and much more aggressive than their host's chicks, and usually push the other chicks out. Nature isn't always pretty nor kind. "Survival of the fittest" gets ugly at times.
