Field Notes

Notes:

This is a small pile of very tiny bones and scales. There were two piles, one about one inch in diameter, the other about half an inch. So you can imagine how tiny all those bones are. This was at a private pond; whatever made these piles did so from a shepherd's hook next to the dock. Any ideas on what it could be?

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

I think there is a good chance that these piles are from another fish-eating animal (feces or regurgitated), probably a bird. Beyond that, I am not sure. I bet, if you do a bit of bird/animal watching in the area that you can come up with some likely candidates!
