Description:

Found this in the japanese maple out front while I was trimming it. I was surprised at the strength of the outer cocoon. I am chef so you know I keep my knives sharp, and I had difficulty cutting through, was more like ripping. The inner cocoon, shown in pic 2&3, was very hard almost like wood.

Not sure, having never seen silk moth in person, was 3-4cm by 1-1.5 cm
Could it have been large enough to hold a silk moth?
