Five-spotted hawkmoth

Manduca quinquemaculata

I think this is a hornworm - which is in fact the caterpillar of a hawk moth or sphinx moth. This could be tomato hornworm - Manduca quinquemaculata (the five-spotted hawkmoth) or tobacco hornworm -Manduca sexta
