Field Notes

Description:

Bright yellow/orange mushroom 3-4 inches tall and 2 inches in diameter. Has a shiny slick top.

Habitat:

Old growth or Virgin forest with a dense canopy and very hilly with sink holes in the valleys.

Notes:

Hundreds of these littered the forest floor scattered over a large area. After a very dry summer (drought) in the area it rained several inches in September and there were may fungi of different kinds everywhere.
