Found it this morning in a potplant, it striped all the leaves of the stem

Mantis eggs capsule, numerous individual protected from weather and prey

It looks like a cocoon or pupa of some sort. You could keep it in a container (with airholes) like a tank with a screen top or such and see if it hatches. It may take a while. Very interesting!
