Field Notes

Description:

A large mushroom pushing its way up through pine needles. It has an orange-red top which appears to flatten out as it grows. It has white spots. Possibly fly agaric.

Habitat:

On a forested mesa in sandy soil with ponderosa pines and gamble's oak being the dominant plants.

Notes:

Seen frequently in wetter years.
