Under a flowerpot in my folks' backyard. About an inch long.

These little guys are the bane of the garden, getting down in the crown of a plant and eating everything that sprouts, maybe even the roots. I believe they are an invader from Europe. Fortunately, raccoons find them quite palatable and do no damage to the plant while hunting them (which is probably why they like to hide under flower pots. There are more slugs than you can shake a stick at; check out this interesting website to see if you can find its identity: http://terrslugs.lifedesks.org/image
