I returned to the spot where I saw this slime mold, and there was no sign of it. There was, however, a different grouping nearby that appears to have entered the spore-bearing stage (I'm just guessing). I will post it as a new spotting.

They show a patch of the fruiting structure as well as a macro shot to try and illustrate what it looks like. That will give you a point of reference for Fuligo septica.
I've only seen Physarum polycephalum once, before the plasmodium formed its fruiting structure. There are some good images at

It looks like this mold forms smaller 'individual' structures than Fuligo septica.
