Description:

I have not idea what this is, or even what category to put it in. I found these 3 about a foot off the shore line on the Aegean Coast of Turkey. I assume the large one was dead, as the two smaller ones seem to have been anchored in the sand where as this one just seemed to be laying on the sand, the only movement coming from it was due to the gentle tidal movement. I did not see any more of these along this stretch of coastline.

No idea what it is, but you have it in the correct category. It appears to be some kind of annelid. In any case, invertebrates that aren't arthropods just fall under "Other."
Hi Birdgirl, thank you for your comments. I looked at earthworms but they all appear to have segment bodies where this one seemed smooth. As for surviving underwater, I cannot see where they would be able to survive in sea water. I am still looking at sea worm, but still not too sure.
Or it may just be some sea worm...
I think it's an earthworm and if it is its not dead. They can survive for days underwater they breathe through their skin so it's no different than underground in terms of breathing. Look it up if you don't believe me, and nice picture!
