Field Notes

Description:

A striking red caterpillar in the weeds of the backyard! My guess is that it's a gypsy moth caterpillar. I researched it a little and ran across something that suggested the red color might be because it was infested with nematodes. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Habitat:

Suburban weedscape.
