Field Notes
Description:
Succulent
Habitat:
Garden. Assuming natural habitat would be dryer areas with enough rain to sustain a succulent plant.
Notes:
Is there a creator who made this plant? Or is everything just here and living things die and return to the earth? I look at this plant and the biological terms and systems of it come to mind. I think of the xylem and phloem and how the whole plant is able to branch out with these intricate systems inside it making photosynthesis possible and growth. But at the same time the idea of religion ( the actual concept) seems like child's play. Fantasy. There are so many different religions so it seems more logical that early man used imagination to create ideas and stories of things they didn't understand. Example, many cultures had/have a sun god. The sun to man without science was an absolute mystery. To them, it was living every day. Dying every night. They didn't have the science or access to information about the sun so they had to use their imaginations. Is that what religion is? Variations of imagined stories involving historical figures and things in nature to explain our surroundings in a way our mortal minds can understand?
